Wave
Inspired from my nieces, Wave showcases the slow flow texture of their wave like hair and resembles their deep olive tones contributed by their Black and African American ancestry.
Wave can be interpreted by many individuals with this beautiful hair pattern and texture. The marking on the face of the painting is meant to resemble hyperpigmentation, which sheds light on those going through skin texture insecurities.

Perspective
This half butterfly is offered as a Perspective, allowing us to ponder how most are in constant awe of the beauty in diversity amongst this creature’s patterns yet we don’t hold the same awe for our peers.
Perspective combines shades of melanin, shades of brown, that can vary within our communities.

Fro
Inspired by my oldest sister(the mother of my nieces) and myself, Fro features a deeper, more coily, curl pattern that is reflected on many. The silhouette of the woman is looking back over her shoulder and her curls bounce with joy in the movement.
